KILLEEN, Texas (Feb. 23, 2022) – The City of Killeen is providing updates to events, flights amid impending cold weather temperatures moving into the area over the next, few days.
The highly-anticipated musical event, Motown Downtown, has been postponed from Feb. 26 to Saturday, March 5 from 4-8p.m. The event will include tunes of Motown’s biggest hits, from The Temptations, Michael Jackson and Marvin Gaye, to Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson. There will also be entertainment from local bands.
The second of two Community Planning Meetings is still scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 24 at 6p.m., but it will be a virtual-only event via Zoom. The community is asked to participate, so the Community Development Advisory Committee can gain public input in development of the Fiscal Year 2023 Annual Action Plan and prioritize community needs and disbursement of federal U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds.
Also, all flights at the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport (GRK) are cancelled for today, due to weather out of Dallas. GRK information is on the City’s website at KilleenTexas.gov/airport. As a reminder, the City of Killeen is opening Warming Centers tonight through Saturday morning.
The Rosa Hereford Community Center (2201 E Veterans Memorial Blvd.) is open tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. If no one is using the warming center by 11:30p.m., then it will close.
The City of Killeen has also partnered with the Killeen Housing Authority, the League of United Latin American Citizens District 17 (LULAC), LULAC-Herencia #4297 Killeen and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Texas District 14 to provide an increased services warming center at the Moss Rose Center (1103 E Ave. E) for those in need on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 6p.m. until Friday, Feb. 25 at 9a.m. If no one is utilizing the service by 11:30p.m., the warming center will close.
